Introducing the Creative Business Club
This week, we sat down with Lindsay Wright, one of the co-founders of The Creative Business Club, to chat all about what the club is, what people can expect from its meet-ups, and the community it’s building for creative business owners.
With their next in-person gathering taking place at Society1 on 4th November, The Creative Business Club promises a welcoming, no-pressure space for creatives of all kinds to connect, share ideas, and get support from people who truly “get it.” Whether you’re a photographer, florist, copywriter or coach — or just at the start of your creative journey — this is a community built to inspire and empower.
We couldn’t be more excited to welcome them to Society1, and to find out more about the story behind this brilliant initiative, we caught up with Lindsay to hear all about it.
For anyone who hasn't heard about it yet, what's the Creative Business Club all about?
Creative Business Club is a relaxed, non-sales space where creative business owners can connect with other creatives, from photographers to florists, copywriters to coaches, whether you’ve been in your industry for years or are just starting up. Our in person meet ups are not only a place to connect but somewhere to share what you’re working through, to get ideas and support from people who just get it.
What can people expect from the events? What's different than other networking?
The biggest difference is that it isn’t a networking event, it’s more of a creative support group, or sometimes I like to call it a sounding board. Whilst we start the sessions off with a chance to connect and meet other people, we also create space to explore and share some of the things that are on your mind, business wise. Whether you’re going through a difficult patch, or you’re not sure which direction to take. Nothing is too big or too small to bring here. And everyone is valuable, even if you don’t have something on your mind, just being there means your experience and input could really help someone else. There will be times to play, times to share, times to connect, and of course brews and biscuits! There’s lots of things I love about Creative Business Club, but one of my favourites is that there’s no pressure when you’re here. If you’re someone who arrives loud and wanting to get stuck right in, amazing, but equally if you’re someone who likes to take it in and needs a bit of warm up time, then that’s great too. Everyone is welcome and everyone can feel free to be themselves, no masks, no egos, no selling.
What made you feel like Society1 was the right place to host your next event?
Community! That is at the heart of what Creative Business Club is all about. As a member myself, I know how much of a wonderful community there is at Society1 and it felt like the perfect setting for Creative Business Club to help encourage and grow that side of what we’re all about. That and Brendan’s ability to always have what ever computer leads I will forget to bring!
Looking ahead, what do you hope people will take away from being involved?
Our ultimate aim for Creative Business Club is that people leave not just thinking, “Ooo that was a good crack” but also buzzing and hopeful about their business. It was set up so people could feel connected and know they have a place to turn to when they have any needs for their creative business.
