5 Reasons I Love Coworking (As a Community Coordinator)

I’ve been at Society1 for two years now, time really flies! What started as a job listing that sounded interesting to someone desperate to get out of hospitality has turned into a career, a passion, and new friends. I’m not exaggerating when I say that working for S1 has changed my outlook on life – life is a lot nicer when you like where you spend most of your time.

Not only do I really like my job, I genuinely believe in what we do. Coworking is great, and I can always be found shouting about its benefits. Here’s 5 reasons I love coworking:

1. Making Connections

Watching members make work connections, form friendships, and get to know each other makes me so happy. I’ve even seen people get new jobs with others they’ve met in the space! Watching ideas grow, friendships thrive, and the birth of collaborations from the serendipity of being in Society1 on the same day is what coworking is all about.

2. Chit-Chat

I love to gab, and I love coworking for the random convos. “What did you have for tea last night?” is the question that comes out of my mouth the most.

3. Learning New Things

You’d be surprised how much I learn working at a coworking space! I get to hear all about peoples careers and lives, as well as all sorts of information, gossip, and facts. Members have given me advice for my job, taught me about their work, and all sorts of interesting tid-bits. For example, I love learning what our members do for work – do you know what metapsychology is? I do now!

4. Community

As you can guess, I LOVE Community and recognise its importance in everything we do. Humans aren’t meant to be hyper-independent, and as the world becomes more online and separate, communities are more and more important to our culture. Having a network of like-minded people to lean on makes a huge difference to people’s wellbeing and growth. When we’re working together, we’re all working better.

5. Making A Difference

Every time a member tells me that coming into the coworking space has made a difference to their mental health, it makes me tear up a bit. Supporting businesses and watching people’s careers thrive is great, but when it comes to what really matters – people’s wellbeing – I’m so proud to be involved in something that can help people feel better.
